Since 2005 the Hanseatic Conference takes places every year. Upon invitation only, around 110 – 120 politicans, scientists and businesses discuss one topic that is of particular importance for the Baltic Sea Region. After short input sessions of three speeches, not more than 15 mins each, the participants discuss at mixed round tables. They results of the moderated discussions and selected papers of the conference are then published in a conference book.

The Baltic Sea Academy is co-hosting this event since 2010. Among the speaker were several EU Commissioners, national ministers and distinguished scientists from 11 countries.

The next conference is scheduled for June 2019.
